Ace Translator is decent translation software that offers a large list of languages, but not many features. The application itself is very basic and has a layout with only the most minimal tools such as copy, paste, cut and open.
Ace Translator has room for improvement before they achieve high accuracy ratings. We tested this translation software by translating a paragraph from the Spanish version of “Little Red Riding Hood.” The software mixed several words up, which sometimes was so severe that the whole content of the text was lost.
However, the largest errors involved sentence structure and word order. When interpreting text from one language to another, this software oftentimes mixed up sentence order and got some words mixed up. While for the most part this is not an extremely halting problem, it does result in confusing the content and meaning of the text. Ace offers both program integration and file translation. This translation software has the capability to copy and paste text from any source and in almost any language. The software also claims to work with Microsoft Outlook and email systems, but we were unable to figure out how it works with these programs, unless it is by copy and pasting the text into the translator. We were disappointed with the amount of features this software program offered and we feel the lack of instant web translation, text-to-speech pronunciation and a spell checker are drawbacks to this software program.
This software is easy to use, mainly because it lacks any advanced features that could complicate the program. To use the interface, you simply cut, paste or type text in the top window, select the languages you want to use and the translation will appear in a window at the bottom after only a few seconds.
We were surprised to find this translation software provides 59 available languages. There are more languages available in this software than in any of the others. It includes language in a wide range from the more common French, German and Spanish to the more unusual languages, including Lithuanian, Catalan and Yiddish.
Ace Translator doesn’t integrate with several programs like similar products, but this translation software can open Microsoft Outlook for sending emails to support. If you want to interpret text from various formats, you have to copy and paste it into the interface. This software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Ace’s technical support is helpful only for certain things such as contacting the manufacturer or connecting to the website. This software company doesn’t offer much customer support like a FAQs section or a user manual, but the system is so simple that there isn’t much to get help with.
Ace Translator is not as high of quality as many of our top-ranked programs and does not offer many features. However, the vast amount of languages is a standout feature on this product and the simple interface is a pleasant addition.
Pros
Ace has a larger selection of languages than any other software in the lineup.
Cons
Ace does not have many features to set it apart from other programs.
Ace is an average translator and is not suggested for anyone who wants a lot of features.
