Lingvosoft qualifies as useful translation software, but next to some of the high-ranking products, it looks far too simple. There are several nice features, like the ability to change the translation window from a vertical to horizontal configuration, but these features aren’t really good enough to compensate for the fact that the actual translation features are mediocre at best.

Lingvosoft doesn’t do much translation outside of the application. For most text you will need to copy and paste it directly into Lingvosoft. Fortunately Lingvosoft has a “translate on paste” function that saves you a few clicks in the process. One of the few ways that Lingvosoft does interact with programs is through Microsoft Outlook. Lingvosoft creates a toolbar in Outlook that helps you translate emails immediately without needing to copy and paste them into the main application.

You can only buy Lingvosoft in language pairs, so you can’t get several languages in one purchase. But Lingvosoft offers a fairly accurate text-to-speech feature that helps you recognize words by pronouncing them out loud.

Ligvosoft continues it’s theme of mediocrity with the results of our translation test. Lingvosoft got much of the translation right, but still committed several inaccuracies that would lead to misunderstanding.
