Systran 6 Home Translator integrates seamlessly into other applications, like Word, Internet Explorer and Firefox to provide multi-language translations at your fingertips. You can also translate from other languages into English. These features and more make this translation software one of the best available and the "TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award" winner.
Some aspects of Systran’s ease of use and feature set surpass those of higher ranking products. However, Systran is third in the review because its translation accuracy is lower than the #1 and #2 products.
Though Systran didn’t score as well in the Effectiveness category as the top two products in this review, Babylon and @promt , the translations were still accurate enough that the user could get the gist of the content. There were only a few errors, but they could lead to more misunderstanding than the translations of the top two products. One of Systran’s standout aspects is the way the software seamlessly integrates with Word and web browsers. The Systran toolbar make it easy to translate selected text from English to 12 different languages. Or, you can simply right click on selected text and Systran gives you four options; Translate, Translate and Replace, Translate and Insert, and Lookup. This makes it very easy to translate text while in Word.
The dictionaries and ability to auto-identify the source language in Systran are very useful, but we were disappointed that Systran didn’t have an integrated spell check or text-to-speech options.
We were especially impressed with Systran’s user–friendliness. This is a program that anyone can use without a lot of instruction. Regardless of which application you’re using, the Systran toolbar has the same interface, making it easy to translate text no matter what format the text is in.
Systran does an excellent job of integrating to and translating from other programs. Systran can translate text from almost any program you’ll use, like Word, Excel, Powerpoint and web browsers. Systran can also translate PDF and RTF files as well as emails and instant messages.
